Welcome to Technotron
Technotron designs and constructs control and energy systems for worldwide industrial use, for example in the petrochemical industry, mechanical engineering, utility and maritime & offshore markets.
At Technotron, our strength is the efficient utilisation of our second-to-none knowledge of mechatronics. This expertise sets us apart when addressing a wide range of specific operational issues. Right from the very first design, we pay attention to ease of use, along with long-term applications and current legislation and regulations.
The systems we produce are so diverse that a simple summary could never do them all full justice. On this website, we attempt to provide you with a comprehensive overview of a few of our successful projects.

Low-voltage panels replaced in Belgian schools
Technotron has undertaken the replacement of low-voltage panels in a number of Belgian schools. The schools, which make up part of the SGR Meetjesland group, are located in Evergem, Eeklo, Wachtebeke and Maldegem. After evaluating the existing situation, together with Elektra 21 B.V, Technotron designed and constructed the new low-voltage panels, in accordance with current guidelines and regulations. The panels were built and tested in line with AREI and NBN-EN 61439-1 guidelines. The panels incorporated components from the manufacturer Hager.
ATEX inspection at Cargill Sas van Gent
A. Leest. Maintenace Reliability Group, Cargill Sas van Gent: To guarantee good continuity for our ATEX inspection programme, we selected Technotron to undertake the required inspections. Technotron’s approach is professional. Throughout the process we were kept informed and up-to-date on progress and any discrepancies identified. In short, Technotron helped streamline and simplify our ATEX inspections.
The Ampelmann is the perfect system to create a safe gangway between a ship and a static offshore object, such as an oil platform or wind turbine The Ampelmann compensates the active motion of the ship. A platform with gangway is mounted on hydraulic cylinders. A gyro sensor receives a signal which serves as a reference for controlling the hydraulic cylinders. This adjustment needs to occur fast enough to compensate the motion of the ship and keep the platform stable and still regardless of the movement of the ship. Technotron developed an extended temperature version of the Ampelmann called the Iceman, commissioned by our partner Hydrauvision. The Iceman is built according to classification society DNV GL standards and can be used in regions with temperatures as low as -40°C. The Iceman will predominantly be used in the polar regions.
Control console Hydraulic Pump Unit (HPU) and two hose-reel drives
In close cooperation with the client, Technotron designed and constructed two consoles for use in the offshore industry. The consoles were intended to operate a Hydraulic Pump Unit (HPU) and two hose-reel drives, connected in turn to five hydraulic tools. These tools are operated using joysticks on the console. The HPU incorporates a Siemens S1500 PLC, which uses a profinet (process field net) to communicate with a Siemens ET200SP remote IO station and a Siemens comfort panel in the console. Both hose-reel drives are equipped with a spooler to distribute the cables over the reel. The hose-reel drives and spoolers are operated with joysticks on the console. The hose-reel drives can be operated synchronously. The spoolers can also be driven automatically. To facilitate this, both hose-reel drives and spoolers are equipped with encoders that are connected to the PLC. The HPU can be started either locally or from the console. The controls are constructed in such a way that, in the event of a failure in the PLC, the complete control process can be undertaken manually. Technotron was responsible for this project from start to finish, from design of the control system and construction of the control panels to installation of the electronics on location.
